NAHB provides a range of opportunities for supporting Area, State and Local leadership training events through partnerships with the local or state association(s).

HBAs can contact NAHB to discuss ways that we can help to support your leadership training goals.

Leadership Orientation

Held at the National Housing Center in Washington DC, the NAHB Orientation has historically been hosted exclusively for Executive Officers. NAHB recently developed a Leadership Track that provides volunteer leaders programming that is tailored to the member’s specific role as a leader within the Federation, through experiential components, roundtable discussions and customized training sessions.

While at these meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to network and learn alongside other HBA leaders, hear from NAHB Senior Officers and staff, and discuss with fellow leaders the housing issues that impact their business. (Please note: Due to limited spaces, only one registration per HBA will be allowed unless attendance permits.)

  • During the 2023 Spring Orientation, attendees toured Capitol Hill and met with members of the Problem Solvers Caucus.
  • At the 2023 Fall Orientation, attendees toured Capitol Hill and met with Montana Senator Steve Daines.

Leadership Orientation was also held in the spring and fall of 2024. Registration for the spring 2025 orientation (March 25-26) will open in early 2025. Learn more about the orientations and how to register.

Leadership Academy

Each year, the NAHB Leadership Academy welcomes a small group of experienced industry leaders to participate in a year-long program that will develop their skills and prepare them to serve in national leadership roles. Participants complete virtual and in-person learning sessions that are designed to build on previous leadership experience. Learn more about the Academy and how to apply.

Leadership Training Conferences

NAHB is pleased to partner with State and Area HBAs to host Leadership Training Conferences within their region, helping to make leadership training more accessible for member leaders who volunteer at their Local or State HBA. For HBAs interested in learning more, please review the NAHB Leadership Training Conference Hosting Toolkit.

Below are upcoming conference dates. Registration for these events is managed through the individual area association that is hosting the event. A limited number of grants are available through NAHB to cover the cost of registration for eligible participants. Learn more.
